SYLVANIA, Ala. — The Sylvania Rams defeated the North Sand Mountain Bisons,43-36 in a game that took two days to finish.
The North Sand Mountain Bisons struck early, scoring with 7:40 remaining in the first. They successfully went for two, to take the 8-0 advantage. On fourth down and one, the Rams came crashing in for the score, making the score 8-7. The Bisons had the ball on the 35 yard line but failed and the ball went to the Rams on downs. With 2:42 remaining in the first, the Rams came crashing in to score. The Rams went for two to tie the game 14-14. After repeated weather delays, it was agreed between the two teams that play would resume on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, the clock restarted with :34 remaining in the first.
At the start of the second quarter, the Bisons had the ball on the 6-yard line. The Rams held them and intercepted the ball, running it back for the touchdown with 5:21 remaining in the second quarter, making the score 21-14. With :20 remaining in the first half, NSM scored. The extra point failed. The Rams went into the half with the 21-20 advantage.
The Rams kicked a field goal, going up 24-21. After a back and forth, the Bisons took the lead with 2:20 in the third, 28-24. With 1:14 remaining in the third, the Rams took the lead, 30-28.
As fans were on the edge of their seats, North Sand Mountain took the 36-30 lead with 9:28 remaining in the fourth. With 2:14 remaining in the game, the Rams took the 37-36 lead. After an interception, the Rams scored the final points of the game with :20 remaining in the game, to go up 43-36.
Sylvania will host Brindlee Mountain for Homecoming this week.
