VALLEY HEAD, Ala. — The Southern Torch Coach of the Week is Brian Knapp, head coach of the Valley Head varsity football team.

Coach Knapp played quarterback, kicker, and punter for Mt. Zion High School in Georgia.  He was awarded All-State Honors as a kicker.  After graduating from Mt. Zion, he obtained a degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville State University. Knapp helped his dad coach junior varsity football while working toward his teaching degree. He is a third generation coach with his grandfather and dad being inducted to the Coaching Hall of Fame.

Before coming to Valley Head, Coach Knapp was the longest tenured and winningest coach in Douglas High School history.

Coach Knapp is married to Tashia Knapp. They have two daughters: Gracie, age 11 and Bristol Grace, age 2 ½.

Coach Knapp’s favorite quote is, “It’s never as good as it seems. It’s never as hard as it seems. Keep it at even keel.”
