Panthers Shut Out the Wildcats

COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — The Collinsville Panthers shutout the Sand Rock Wildcats 35-0 on Friday night.

With 3:33 remaining in the first, Kaleb Jones, scored on a 1-yard touchdown.  The kick by Jason Perez was good, giving Collinsville the 7-0 lead.  

Jones attacked again with a 5-yard run with 9:22 remaining in the second quarter. The kick by Perez was good, giving the Panthers the 14-0 advantage.  Perez made a 31-yard field goal to give the Panthers the 17-0 lead going into the half.

To start the second half of play, Jones scored on another quarterback keeper.  The kick was good giving the Panthers the 24-0 lead with 6:36 remaining in the third quarter.  Jones connected on a 73-yard touchdown pass with Garrett Skelton, making the score 31-0.  

The fourth quarter was not to ‘safe for the Wildcats.  The Panthers scored on a safety with 11:18 remaining in the game, when the Sand Rock quarterback fell on the ball in the endzone.  With 7:23 remaining in the game, Lopez tackled a Wildcat in the endzone to make the final score, 35-0.

Collinsville will travel to take on Cedar Bluff on Friday. 

“I thought we played hard but not well in the first half.  We entered the game leading in turnover margin 15 to 3, and then we had three turnovers in the first half” said Collinsville Head Coach Ernie Willingham.  “ We have to get better next week. The game with Cedar Bluff will be a home playoff game in the first round. It is at their place, and they are hard to beat there.”
