SECTION, Ala. — The Collinsville Panthers and the Section Lions met on Friday for Week 0 action.

The opening game nerves were evident for both teams. In the first quarter of the game, the Collinsville Panthers had three straight turnovers but the Section Lions were unable to capitalize for the score.

The second quarter was back and forth between the teams.  The teams went into the locker room for the half, with the game scoreless.

With 10:15 remaining in the third quarter, Malachi Orr threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Hughes for the only score of the night.  The kick by John David Vargas was good, giving the Collinsville Panthers the win with a score of 7-0.

Dalton Hughes had a stellar game for the Collinsville Panthers. He ran for 57 yards, passed for 137 yards and scored the only touchdown of the game.  He also punted twice for 67 yards and recovered a fumble.

The Panther defense held Section to 126 yards for the night.

“It wasn’t pretty, but we fought through that and found a way.  I thought that our defense played hard and really well and showed great composure.  In the end, a win is a win,” stated Collinsville Head Football Coach Daniel Garrett.

The Collinsville Panthers will host the Crossville Lions on Thursday night.

The Section Lions will host the Valley Head Tigers for week one action.
