Panthers Attack the Rams

ASBURY, Ala. — The Collinsville Panthers defeated the Asbury Rams, 56-6 on Friday night. 

The Panthers put points on the board early when Dalton Hughes scored on a 9-yard scamper into the endzone with 7:47 remaining in the opening quarter.  The extra point attempt by Jason Perez gave the Panthers the 7-0 advantage.  With 6:04 remaining in the first, Kaleb Jones connected with Michael Tucker with a 38-yard pass for the score.  The kick by Perez gave the Panthers the 14-0 lead.  Jones connected with Hughes with a 20-yard pass for the score.  The point after attempt by Perez was good.  For the fourth Panther touchdown of the night, Jones connected with Garrett Skelton on a 14-yard pass.  The kick by Perez gave the Panthers the 28-0 advantage over the Rams.  Jones intercepted an Asbury pass and returned it for the 24-yard touchdown.  The kick by Perez gave the Panthers, the 35-0 lead going into the second quarter.  

Collinsville started the second quarter by scoring on a 4-yard run by Trevor Arnold.  The extra point attempt by Oswaldo Gallegos was good, giving the Collinsville Panthers the 42-0 lead.  Asbury scored their only points of the night on a 4-yard dash into the endzone with 4:42 remaining in the first half.  The extra point attempt failed, making the score 42-6.  With 5:50 remaining in the third, James DeBoard ran the ball in from 23-yards out to broaden the Panther lead to 49-6.

Collinsville scored their final points of the night on a 34-yard pass connection from DeBoard to Carson Dennis with 9:00 remaining in play, making the score 56-6.

Kaleb Jones threw for three touchdowns and had an interception for a touchdown. Blake Sparks had 2 fumble recoveries in less than two minutes in the first quarter.  The Panther defense forced 4 turnovers, 3 fumbles and an interception.  Collinsville had 7 straight touchdowns in the first half while only possessing the ball for less than eight minutes. 

The Collinsville Panthers will host Sand Rock on Friday night.
