HOLLY POND, Ala. — The Ider Hornets defeat the Holly Pond Broncos, 17-2 on Friday night.
The game was back and forth throughout the night with both teams fumbling and throwing interceptions.
With 7:00 remaining in the first half, Holly Pond scored the only points of the half, on a safety, to make the score 2-0.
Ider kicked a 50 yard field goal by Benjamin Klausen with 7:00 remaining in the third to take the 3-2 lead. With 1:34 remaining in the third, Klausen connected on a long touchdown pass, to score. The PAT was good and Ider had the 10-2 advantage over the Broncos.
With 1:34 remaining in the game, Klausen intercepts the Bronco ball and runs it back 32 yards for the Ider touchdown and gave the Ider Hornets the 17-2 victory.
Seth Hawkins led the Ider Hornets with 77 yards on 21 carries. Klausen had two interceptions and two touchdowns for the night.
Ider (1-0) will travel to take on the Sand Rock Wildcats (1-0) in a region game on Friday.
