Hornets Sting the Lions

PELL CITY, Ala.-- The Ider Hornets defeated the Victory Christian Lions, 36-7 on Friday night. 

Matthew Norman sailed in for a Hornet touchdown with 8:43 remaining in the opening quarter. The PAT was good, giving Ider the 7-0 lead over Victory. With :53 remaining in the first, Ider cashed in on another touchdown. The  PAT was good to take the 14-0 going into the second quarter. After a scoreless second quarter, the Hornets took the 14-0 lead into the half. 

With 8:09 remaining in the third quarter, Victory put their first points on the board. The PAT was good, making the score 14-7.  Ider tacked on a touchdown before the end of the third quarter, to waltz into the fourth quarter with the 21-7 advantage. 

Matt Norman stampeded into the endzone with 10:33 remaining and Smith added the extra point to take the 28-7 lead over Victory. After a goal-line stand by the Hornets, Ider was forced to punt with 2:41. The Hornets forced the turnover on downs and rocketed down the field on a 65-yard Norman touchdown with :36 remaining in the game. The extra point attempt was successful, giving the Hornets the 36-7 win over Victory. 

Ider will travel to take on the Pisgah Eagles on Friday.
