HIGDON, Ala.-- The Ider Hornets defeated the North Sand Mountain Bisons, 13-7 on Friday night, and won Southern Torch Team of the Week honors.

NSM completed a 15-play touchdown drive on their first possession of the game, with Derek Bearden scoring on an 11-yard run.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle between the teams. The Bisons marched down the field on a 16-play drive but fumbled with :39 remaining in the half. Ider’s Hunter Robinson bulldozed his way down the field, for 55-yards only to be stopped by a holding call. The Bisons went into the half, with a 7-0 advantage over the Hornets.

After a battle in the third quarter, it seemed that the Bisons had the game won. A fumble to start the fourth quarter resulted in the tying score for the Hornets with 9:20 remaining in the game with a Dylan Grant scamper from the one-yard line. On their next possession, the Bisons moved down to the Hornet's 40-yard line but fumbled the ball after a bad handoff with 1:43 remaining in the game. Matt Norman moved the ball down the field for 44-yards to set up the Robinson 34-yard touchdown. The Hornet's defense shut down the next Bison drive and the ball was turned over on downs. The Hornets took a knee to run the clock out for the 13-7 win.

Ider will host Tanner this week while NSM will travel to face the Section Lions.
