FYFFE, Ala. — The Fyffe Red Devils shut out the Plainview Bears, 35-0 on Friday night. The Fyffe Red Devils boast an all-time (35-23-1) record over the Bears.

As the storm approached the stadium and on the field, the Fyffe Red quickly scored on a 20-yard gallop into the endzone by Ike Rowell, with 11:00 minutes left in the first quarter.  With 5:16 remaining in the first, Zach Pryon scored on a quarterback keeper, from 7-yards out. With 5:00 remaining in the opening quarter, Justin Stiefel intercepted a Plainview pass and ran it back 31-yards.  Rowell showed out with his second touchdown of the night, stampeding into the endzone from 28-yards out.  Pryon raced down the field for 58 yards, for his second touchdown of the night, bringing the score to 35-0 at the half.

After a weather delay, the rest of the game was played with a running clock and 6:00 minute quarters.  Neither team scored in the second half.

“I thought we got off to a good start against Plainview which is what you would want every game.  I thought our guys played with great effort and intensity” said Fyffe Head Coach Paul Benefield.  “We need to protect the football better on offense and play a little smarter on defense but overall everyone got to play, which is a plus for the players.”

Ike Rowell led the Red Devils with 107 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.  Zach Pryon finished with 102 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

Brody McCurdy led the Plainview Bears with 32 rushing yards.

The Class 2A, Number 1 ranked Fyffe Red Devils will step back into region play as they host the Sand Rock Wildcats.  Plainview will have a bye week.
