FP Winterguard Completes Successful Season

FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- The Fort Payne Varsity and Junior Varsity Winterguard successfully finished their season. 

Winterguard is a competition dance team that specializes in dance, flag, rifles, and sabers. 

Any student, grades 7-12, in the Fort Payne School system is eligible to audition for the team. 

Auditions for the team take place in November with the official start of the season beginning in January and going through March. 

The teams participate across the Southeast, with many competitions being held in Atlanta and Birmingham, and occasionally do an exhibition at Fort Payne High School. 

The Fort Payne team recently participated in the Winterguard International which is equivalent to a bowl game in football.  

The Varsity Team placed 15th of 34 teams and the Junior Varsity was 13th out of 23 teams participating. 

Alex Jacobs is the Fort Payne Winterguard Director.  Will Thomas serves as the Assistant Director. Staff members include Morgan Hunton and Noah Green.

Congratulations on a  successful season to the Fort Payne WInterguard! All the countless hours of practicing have paid off!
