GERALDINE, Ala. — The Geraldine Bulldogs defeated the Westminster Wildcats 30-7 on Friday night.
With 5:50 remaining in the opening quarter Geraldines’ Troy Willoughby scored on a 25- yard touchdown. The point-after attempt was good, giving the Bulldogs the 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Anthony Baldwin dashed into the endzone for a Geraldine touchdown to make the score 14-0 with 1:05 remaining in the first half. Westminster answered back with their only touchdown of the night, narrowing the score to 14-7 with .50 left in the second. With only .3 remaining in the first half, Geraldines’ Jose Garcia nailed a 40-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs the 17-7 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs scored their third touchdown of the night. The PAT was not good but gave the Bulldogs the 23-7 advantage with 2:15 remaining in the third quarter.
With 1:31 left in the game the Bulldogs found their way into the endzone for the last time, to make the final score 30-7.
Baldwin finished the night with 122-yards, 24 carries and 2 touchdowns. Jose Garcia had 6 tackles and a 40-yard field goal. Troy Willoughby had 2 interceptions and a 25-yard touchdown.
The Geraldine Bulldogs will be on the road this week as they travel to take on the Asbury Rams.
