CROSSVILLE, Ala. — The Crossville Lions defeated the Geraldine Bulldogs, 21-12 in the 99th Battle of Skirum Creek.

The first quarter ended with neither team putting points on the board.  With 10:43 remaining in the second, Crossville scored on a 4-yard by Alex Chacon. The extra point by Rodolfo Balcazar was good, giving the Lions the 7-0 lead.  The Lions carried the 7-0 lead into the half. 

Geraldine opened up the second half with a 60-yard touchdown strike across the middle from Bo Harper to Caleb Hall.  The extra point attempt failed, making the score 7-6 with 11:30 remaining in the third quarter.  After a 10-play, 69-yard drive, Hunter Haston scampered in from 2-yards out with 6:59 remaining in the third.  Ernesto Lopez took it up the middle for two points, to give the Lions the 15-6 lead.  Tony Willoughby stampeded down the field for 24-yards to score for the Bulldogs, with 12.2 seconds remaining in the third.  The Bulldogs went for two but were shut down by the Lions.  

Colton Akins scored for the Lions, on third-and-goal from the six, with 6:43 remaining in the game.  The extra-point failed but gave the Lions the 21-12 advantage.  Chacon picked off a Geraldine pass, with 4:24 remaining in the game. Crossville turned over the ball on downs with 2:38 remaining in the game.  Hunter Haston intercepted the Geraldine ball, to shut the Bulldog momentum down, with less than 2:00 remaining in the game.  The interception cemented the Lions victory, 21-12.  

Crossville finished their season with a 3-7 record.  Geraldine will advance to the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) to face J.B. Pennington.
