Bears Shutout the Hornets

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The Plainview Bears shutout the Ider Hornets, 40-0 on Friday night.

Brody McCurdy made the first touchdown of the 2020 regular season for the Plainview Bears with a 1-yard dash into the endzone.  The point-after attempt was good, giving the Bears the 7-0 lead with 7:00 remaining in the first quarter. With 3:12 remaining in the first quarter, Noah White connected with Jathan Underwood for the 52-yard yard touchdown.  The point-after attempt by Noah White was good, giving the Bears the 14-0 advantage.

The Plainview Bears started the scoring out early in the second quarter.  With 11:56 remaining, Brody McCarty sailed in from 2-yards out.  The PAT by White gave the Bears the 21-0 lead. With 8:18 remaining in the first half, Noah White scored on a 54-yard gallop into the endzone.  The extra point failed but brought the score to 27-0.  Underwood found the endzone from 8 yards out to make the score, 33-0 going into the half. 

In the second quarter, McCurdy made the last touchdown of the night on an 8-yard dash into the endzone.  The extra point attempt was good, giving the Bears the win with a score of 40-0.

White rushed for 104 yards on seven attempts.  Marcos Vega rushed for 116 yards for the night, including a 63-yard run that set the Bears up inside the 5 -yard line.  McCurdy has 90 yards on eight attempts and three touchdowns.
