Miles Thomas Woodside, aka “Tom,” 38 of Rainsville. (Rainsville Police Department)

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — According to the Rainsville Police Department (RPD) last Friday (July 21), Miles Thomas Woodside (a.k.a. ‘Tom’) physically assaulted his father, and stole his truck near 4th Avenue in Rainsville. The incident occurred around 2:20 pm. As of today, law enforcement is still searching for Woodside, who is said to possibly be in the DeKalb County (Fort Payne) area. The suspect most recently resided in Rainsville, but previously had a Fort Payne address.

The victim in the assault was transported by DeKalb Ambulance Services (DAS) to DeKalb Region Medical Center with injuries, where he was treated and later released. Woodside was last seen driving a 2000 model red step-side Ford Ranger, tag number Alabama 1463AN4. The vehicle also has a tool box.

Woodside is also wanted in connection with a theft of guitars from the Rainsville Church of God, with an outstanding warrant for Receiving Stolen Property. Woodside also has outstanding warrants for Theft of Property, 3rd Degree and Assault – Domestic, 2nd Degree in connection with Friday’s incident.

This isn’t Woodside’s first run-in with police. He was arrested August 27th, 2015 by the Fort Payne Police Department on charges of Theft of Services, Resisting Arrest, and Assault. In March 2009, Woodside triggered an Amber Alert when he fled with his then 2-year-old daughter from Kentucky to Fort Payne, and from Fort Payne all the way to Monterrey, Mexico. The child was re-united unharmed with her mother.

The RPD is asking for anyone who spots Woodside to notify them or call 911. Do not approach the suspect, as he’s considered combative and dangerous.

“We don’t know if he is armed, but we do know from his history that he’s dangerous,” said Chief Kevin Smith.

If anyone has any information regarding Woodside’s whereabouts please contact the RPD at 256-638-2157 or submit a tip on the City’s Website at http://www.rainsvillealabama.com/city.html.
