Purchase a Paver for Patriot’s Park

By Marla Jones, Managing Editor

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The City of Fort Payne recently announced they would be purchasing blank pavers to go in Patriot’s Memorial Park.

The pavers, which will be replaced by engraved pavers as they are purchased, will be installed within the next few months.

Patriot’s Park is the latest development in Fort Payne to honor those who have served in the military and either lost their lives or made a significant sacrifice for their country, including veterans of World War I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq War and the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan.

While Patriot’s Park has taken some time to complete, Fort Payne Councilmember Wade Hill stated at last week’s council meeting, “this is a labor of love for a lot of people…we are getting there.”

There are two paver sizes available for purchase. The 4×8 size has space for three lines of text with 18 characters per line and is sold for $100. The 8×8 size has space for six lines at 18 characters per line and is sold for $200.

Purchase forms for engraved pavers are available at the Office of Fort Payne Mayor Larry Chesser, the Office of DeKalb County Revenue Commissioner Tyler Wilks, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building in Fort Payne.
