With Harold Bobo (D) not seeking reelection to the District 1 Board of Education seat, a pair of newcomers will enter the political arena. The Candidates are Jeff Patton (D) of Collinsville and Randy Peppers (R) of Crossville.

Southern Torch conducted a  poll of District 1 and here are the official results from 100 registered voters:

     - Randy Peppers - 28%

3. Who would you vote for if the election were held today?

     - Jeff Patton - 32%
     - Randy Peppers - 24%
     - Undecided - 44%

4. What grade would you give Superintendent Hugh Taylor on his first year in office?

     - Average - C+
