Fort Payne City Council Meeting: Tuesday, May 19

  • The Fort Payne Boys Soccer Team received a Mayoral Proclamation congratulating them on winning the 6A Soccer State Championship.
  • The City applied for a CDBG grant in the amount of $450,000.00 for sewer rehab in the northwest part of town. The city's match will be $25,000.00 in cash and $75,000.00 in in-kind contributions.
  • City Clerk discussed the bidding of the Vulcraft sewer pump station.
  • The 2015 paving list was approved with an additional $100,000.00
  • Valley Head Road in Fort Payne hasn't been repaired in 20 years. The project will cost an estimated $1.9 million. The County is making a contribution of $300,000.00 before September 31 and $300,000.00 after August 1 and provide materials, but the City of Fort Payne will cover the labor.
  • The Airport paving project is set to bid in June.
  • There will be a work session on June 16 at 5:00 PM regarding the sales tax referendum. *

 

 

Rainsville City Council Meeting: Tuesday, May 19

  • The Mayor was empowered to sign the Phase 1 document for an environmental study on the Industrial Park.
  • The Council purchased top dressing for athletic fields at $9,200.00.
  • Rental rates at the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center were lowered.
  • All Department Heads were ordered to supply the City Clerk with their internal budgets on June 22, 2015.
  • The city paid Jim House & Associates $895.00 + shipping for a new pump at the RTI pump station.
  • The Council accepted the resignation of Officer Travis Chapman.
