FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The Fort Payne City Council met on December 6 and voted on a request for an appropriation for the Wills Valley Shootout Basketball Tournament and a street light request for Valhalla Road.

The council then went in to executive session to discuss potential litigation.

In the Mayor's Report, Mayor Larry Chesser reported that he had spoke with ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) on the old hospital project and they are anticipating on the first phase of the project being completed by March. The city had also applied for a phase two study for Marty Fanburg's property on the south end of town, which GameTime is interested in.

The city is in talks with Retail Strategies, which has helped bring several new businesses to Fort Payne, to extend their contract for around $20,000 for the next year.

The council then went to executive session to discuss pending litigation.
