FORT PAYNE, Ala. — In their first meeting of 2017, the DeKalb County Commission convened last Tuesday. The commission addressed the following items:

  • Road Department:
    • Road Maintenance Update (Tom Broyles, Road Department Superintendent)
    • Auction of Road Department Equipment (Tom Broyles, Road Department Superintendent)
    • Personnel (Tom Broyles, Road Department Superintendent)
    • Replacing the bridge on County Road 212 (Ben Luther, County Engineer)
    • Training (Ben Luther, County Engineer)
  • Revenue Commission:
    • Revenue Commission Annual Training (Tyler Wilkes, Revenue Commission)
  • Sheriff's Office:
    • Personnel Changes
  • Emergency Management Agency:
    • Update on recent snow event (President Ricky Harcrow as EMA staff were assisting with the DeSoto Mills Fire)
  • Public Transportation:
    • Defensive Driving Training (Matt Sharp, CPA County Administrator)
  • Sales Tax:
    • Severe Weather Preparedness Tax Free Holiday (Matt Sharp, CPA County Administrator)
  • AT&T Contract (Matt Sharp, CPA County Administrator)
