Danali's Deli

Danali's Deli in Rainsville opened its doors for business on Tuesday of last week. In that time, the staff of Southern Torch has collectively visited the establishment no less than 20 times.

Danali's provides an affordable and healthy food option which the people of Rainsville desperately craved, and its spread of freshly made salads, soups, and sandwiches leaves little to be desired.

Danali's

As I mentioned before, those of us on the Torch team have, ahem, extensively studied (fed our faces, if you prefer) the foods offered at Danali's. Here are a few of our top picks.

-The Club Sandwich is a simple but effective mash of rich-tasting roast beef complemented with the mellow taste of turkey and ham and served on steamed white or wheat bread.

-The Cajun Turkey Sandwich explains much of its taste in its name. A double serving of cajun turkey and pepper jack cheese offers a twinge of sweet heat, which is toned down by vegetables of your choice.

-Broccoli Cheddar Soup has ALMOST the perfect consistency, which is a difficult feat to accomplish. Chunks of steamed broccoli float in a thick and creamy broth that pairs exceptionally well with the Club, Italian, and Cajun Turkey sandwiches.

-Danali's Chicken Toritilla Soup is, in all likelihood, the best Chicken Tortilla Soup offered in any restaurant in DeKalb County. The lingering heat it offers is the type that grows steadily with each bite. It pairs well with the menu items lower on the figurative thermometer, such as the Club or Italian Sandwiches.

-Steamed Nachos with Cheese are comparable to a dish by the same name served at Mama Goldberg's in Auburn. Although not much of a meal by themselves , Nacho Cheese Doritos served steamed and topped with melted cheese make for a great side item or snack.

Other noteworthy menu items that've caught our tastebuds' attention include the Pizza Italian Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Chicken Salad, and a brand of BBQ chips imported from Ohio.

Consensus: Danali's Deli is Torch approved.
