Recap of Rainsville Council meeting

The Rainsville City Council had a productive meeting Monday night. The council discussed a number of issues and addressed the following business:

• Approved a measure that makes changes to the city’s employee fitness incentives provided by local gym, Body Vision in effort to encourage city employees to take advantage of reduced gym membership benefits provided by the city

• The council approved a motion to use $495,000 of money from the city’s bridge fund to pay debt owed for construction performed at the city’s wastewater treatment plant

• Approved a motion to hire local attorney David Wear and attorney David Rigelstien from Birmingham firm Balch and Bingham to complete legal work on behalf of the city involving a recent USDA Loan and bond and sewer work.

• Approved a motion to spend $1,650 to purchase an icemaker to be used to help prepare required water samples taken and stored at the wastewater treatment facility.

• Approved a motion to enter an agreement with GEK

The Rainsville City Council will meet again on Feb. 1, 2016.
