RAINSVILLE, Ala. — Earlier today (May 20), at approximately 2:30 pm, a Rainsville Police Officer was injured in a wreck at the intersection of Church Avenue and Highway 35. 

According to the Rainsville Police Department, an officer pulled out on Highway 35 with blue lights flashing to respond to a call. The officer pulled out from Church Avenue, from the parking lot behind the police station.

According to police and witnesses, the driver of the truck failed to yield properly to an officer responding to a call with lights flashing. Another driver reportedly yielded to the officer.

The officer received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to DeKalb Regional Medical Center.

The accident is currently being investigated by the Alabama Department of Public Safety as it involved a police officer.
