FORT PAYNE, Ala.— In a statement released by the Dekalb Ambulance Service (DAS), a memorial service has been announced for Ashley Lynn Scott, who was murdered earlier this week in an apparent domestic dispute. The service will be held on Thursday, June 30 at the W.T. Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will last from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

All local firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and others wanting to pay their respect are encouraged to attend. DAS asks that agencies wishing to attend R.S.V.P. with Cheryl Kirby, Assistant Director, who can be reached at 256-630-8334.

Scott, 25, was found deceased early Monday morning after officers of the Fort Payne Police Department were called to her residence to check on her welfare. Her husband, Gregory Scott, was arrested shortly after in connection with her death. Mr. Scott is being held in the Dekalb County Jail on murder charges with a $1 million bond.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Scott were employees of DAS and served as emergency medical technicians (EMT). Ashley had been employed full-time since September 2015, while her husband Gregory had been working for the company part-time beginning in February of this year.

Also in the statement, DAS expressed their grief at the sudden loss of a co-worker to domestic violence.

“Ashley L. Scott was a full time EMT for DeKalb Ambulance Service. She was a victim of domestic violence. She touched many lives and will always be remembered in our hearts,” the statement read.

Scott will be laid to rest in Reed City, Michigan on a later date according to her obituary.
