Fort Payne Council addresses pedestrian safety, approves licensing

FORT PAYNE, AL— The Fort Payne City Council Tuesday, Jan. 19 for a regularly scheduled council meeting. The council conducted a fairly routine meeting, taking up the following business::

• Approved Minutes

• Motion made to approve payments to accounts, motion carries.

• Road department reports that the crosswalk and sidewalk improvements are complete at the Heil facility.

• Motion to approve expenditure for crosswalk lighting in downtown Fort Payne, motion carries.

• Motion made to close hearing to receive comments on proposed issuance of a retail liquor license for the Mid-Town Cafe and Grill, motion carries.

• Motion made to approve retail liquor license for Mid-Town Cafe and Grill, motion carries.

• The council set a work session for Taylor Vice, representing Charter Communications to discuss upcoming renewal of their franchise agreement for Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 5 p.m.

• Motion made to approve an activity permit for the Dekalb Shrine Club Benefit Motorcycle Ride at the Rotary Pavilion on Saturday, April 2, 2016, motion carries.

• Meeting adjourned.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.
