FORT PAYNE, Ala. — DeKalb Ambulance Service (DAS) is currently holding a Toy Drive to benefit local Children this Christmas through the Children's Advocacy Center.

Donations may be delivered to DAS Station #1 (208 Airport Road, Fort Payne) until this Friday, (December 15th).

Donations are sought for, "Toys for all ages, coats, non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, paper products and toiletries."

Gifts donated are required to be unwrapped.

DAS employees are also sponsoring five children anonymously this Christmas through the advocacy center.

Cynthia Robertson, Administrative Assistant at DAS explained that these children submitted a, "wish list" of things that they wanted or needed, and that the items differed from what most children ask for as Christmas.

"The really unusual thing, and it's very touching, is that they aren't asking so much for toys, but they asking for things like books, socks, and clothes," said Robertson. "Most kids are asking for iPhones, toys, things like that, but these children just mostly want necessities; things many of us take for granted."

Robertson said that employees are also contributing monetary donations for these five children, and several employees will go purchase the gifts for the children.

"Any donation, big or small, will go to good use," said Robertson.

Contact DAS at (256)845-4027 for more information or drop a donation off at their Airport Road location by Friday!
