FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the Fort Payne Police Department: "On Monday, at 2:20 am Officer Matt Jones noticed freshly cut wires outside of the building at C & H Drug located at 1916 Gault Ave North. Patrolman Jones called for assistance and immediately began to patrol the area for suspicious vehicles.

A passerby notified Patrolman Jones that they had seen a subject dressed in all black clothing running across Gault Avenue to the area of the Extreme Car Wash. A quick canvass of the area was done resulting in no suspects.  Officers then went back to C & H Drug Store and observed the front door had been tampered with.

Other arriving officers then entered the business and discovered someone had tried to make entry into the safe. At this time there are no suspects. The Fort Payne Police Department is asking the public if they were in the area at that time of the morning and saw anything to please contact them at 256-845-1414."

This is the second time C&H has been broken into this year. In February, thieves made entry through the back door; stealing a large amount of pharmaceutical drugs. This recent break-in has similarities to the RiteAid burglary that occurred in July in Rainsville.
