McGill “Officially” Not Seeking Re-Election

Following up with a story that Southern Torch broke on November 12, Senator Shadrack McGill (R) has officially announced that he will not seek re-election in 2014.

In an interview with the Daily Sentinel, Senator McGill said, “After much prayer and counsel, I have decided to step out of the race for Senate District 8. It has truly been an honor to serve, and I count this experience as one of the greatest in my life.”

McGill, who has been a target of the liberal media during his term, has been been heralded as having one of the most conservative voting records in the Alabama Legislature.

The official decision by McGill leaves three men on the ballot who have officially announced their candidacy:

Todd Greeson (R) – Ider
Steve Livingston (R) – Scottsboro
Horace Clemmons (D) – Skyline

Senator McGill will now finish the remaining 11 months of his term, beginning with his 2014 State of the State Address on Monday, December 9th at 6:00 PM at the Fort Payne City Auditorium.
