RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The City of Rainsville announced Monday night at their regularly scheduled city council meeting that Rainsville Police Chief Charles Centers will be stepping down from his position as head of the city’s police force effective Feb. 2, 2016.

The city has not set a firm date to begin the process of finding a replacement for Centers. After an official date is set to begin accepting applications for the position, Rainsville will post an internal job posting for a period of seven days to give existing officers an opportunity to apply for the position. At the end of that seven days, the position will then be opened to accept applications from the public.
