Rainsville PD Apprehends Burglars

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — On September 29, the Rainsville Police Department received a call of a burglar alarm at 5 Star Foods, located at 982 Main Street East.

Rainsville police officers, as well as Officer Levi Bates of the Fyffe Police Department, participated in the call after a traffic stop.

According to Rainsville Police Chief Kevin R. Smith, a rock had been thrown through the window and the fence had been cut. No entry was made into the building. The business' alarm and camera system caught the burglary and scared off the intruder.

Sgt. Stephen Malone was working on the scene when a vehicle stopped just east of the scene to pick up an unknown male. When the vehicle proceeded east on Main Street, Officers Malone and Fowler stopped it. The vehicle's passenger was matched up to the video from the business.

After a search of the car by officers and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, Fredrick Davis and Darnell Little, both of Montgomery, were arrested with Burglary 3rd, possession of burglar's tools and criminal mischief 1st. Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Rainsville Jail.

After interviews with Chief Smith and Capt. Tim Devlin, it was determined that the two men were possibly connected with two other burglaries in Georgia.

"I am so pleased with the relationships that we have with the Fyffe Police Department and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office to work together to catch these men," said Chief Smith. "I would like to praise Sgt. Stephen Malone and Patrolman Sean Fowler for their quick response and just good ole fashioned police work to catch these men. All of these officers are a testament to law enforcement throughout this great nation."
