FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum: At 5:40 a.m. this morning (Wednesday, September 2), a transfer truck and trailer overturned at Joe's Truck Stop at the corner of 5th Street NE and Wallace Avenue NE.

Upon arrival, officers found a truck and box trailer on its side. Rescue personnel with the Fort Payne Fire Department arrived and extracted the driver, Devin Lamar Morgan of Austell, Ga.

Morgan was alert and talking as he was removed from the vehicle and transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center by the DeKalb County Ambulance Service (DAS).

The wreck will continue to be investigated, but it appears that the truck might have been traveling to fast at the curve as he attempted to make the right turn at the bottom and his load shifted and overturned.

Those assisting the Fort Payne Police and Fire Departments were Fort Payne Public Works, DeKalb Ambulance Service, the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency, and Fort Payne Sanitation.
