Commission Deals with Damage Claims

DeKALB COUNTY, Ala. — (Full Video on our Facebook) The DeKalb County Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 11 at the DeKalb County Activities Building. 

Road Department Superintendent Tom Broyles delivered a maintenance update regarding patchwork and surface treatments across the County. 

DeKalb County Engineer Ben Luther updated the Commission on two damage claims from Janet Bearden on County Road 846 who dealt with a busted tire and Dusty White on County Road 570 who dealt with liquid asphalt. Luther also requested that the Commission approve an asphalt bid to Reed Construction for $63-68 per unit. 

The Commission approved the following:

  • Hired Terry Wadsworth as a temporary worker at the Road Department
  • Officers Bell & Smith to attend training in Montgomery for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office
  • Hired temporary help for the summer at the DeKalb County Revenue Commission
  • Approved a yearly credit for insolvents, bankruptcies and taxes in litigation for the DeKalb County Revenue Commission
  • Garbage fee exemptions for the new vendor contract

The next meeting of the DeKalb County Commission will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 25 at the DeKalb County Activities Building.
