COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — According to Collinsville Police Chief Rex Leath, a body was discovered on Tuesday night in the lower part of the parking lot at Piggly Wiggly.

The body, which had been inside a parked vehicle with tinted windows since Sunday, was recovered and identified as 48-year-old Rainsville resident Jeffery Scott Oliver.

According to footage from Piggly Wiggly's security cameras, Oliver pulled up to the parking lot on Sunday, got out of the truck, was seen getting back in the vehicle, and then never left the property.

Leath stated that no foul play was suspected, but the cause of death is undetermined at this time pending further investigation.

Leath contacted the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) to aid in the investigation.

"I would like to thank the Sheriff's Office and the Collinsville Fire Department for their help in uncovering this tragic event," said Leath.

Southern Torch will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
