Arrest Made for Domestic Violence

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — (According to Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum) On February 3, officers responded to a possible Domestic Violence on North Godfrey Ave. It was reported that a female victim was alarmed and afraid by the actions of her boyfriend.  

Officer Carl White arrived on seen and identified Gregorio Rodriguez, age 41 of Fort Payne, as the boyfriend. A friend of Mr. Rodriguez was on scene trying to help calm the offender down.  While Officer White was trying to bring the subject under control Rodriguez grabbed a tumbler style glass and struck Officer White in the face.

Other responding officers arrived and Rodriguez was taken into custody. Officer White was taken to DeKalb Regional for wounds sustained to his head, nose and ear area. Rodriguez was charged with:

  • Felony Assault 2nd
  • Domestic Violence 3rd
  • Interference with a Domestic Violence Emergency Call
  • Resisting Arrest

Rodriguez remains in the Dekalb County Detention Center on a $22,000 bond and an ICE Detainer.
