300 Reasons to Celebrate

FYFFE, Ala. — The Fyffe Red Devils defeated the Sylvania Rams, 49-20 on Friday night to give Coach Paul Benefield his 300th career win. 

The Red Devils scored on a 1-yard run by Kyle Dukes with 3:22 remaining in the first quarter.  With 1:40 remaining in the first,  Ike Rowell brought it in from 53-yards out to take the 14-0 lead over the Rams at the end of the first quarter. 

With 10:17 remaining in the second, Ike Rowell cashed in on another Red Devil touchdown from 36 yards out, to give the Red Devils the 21-0 lead.  A couple of minutes later, Dukes came barreling in from 45-yards out, making the score,  28-0.  With 1:37 remaining in the first half, Brodie Hicks scored to go into the half with the 35-0 advantage. 

Ike Rowell scored for Fyffe on a 20-yard run, with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter.  Hicks added another touchdown with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter.

Sylvania got on the board with 8:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, with a 2-yard touchdown by Styles Hughes.  With 7:08 remaining in the game, Brayden Harris scored on a 5-yard dash into the endzone.  Sylvania scored their final touchdown on an 8-yard run with :05 remaining in the game, to make the final 49-20.

For Fyffe, Ike Rowell had 12 carries for 156 yards and three touchdowns.  Kyle Dukes and Brodie Hicks added two rushing touchdowns each.

For Sylvania, Garreth Anderson finished with 100 yards on 11 carries.  Braiden Thomas had 73 yards on nine carries. 

Sylvania will travel to take on Collinsville in region play. Fyffe will also be on the road to face Brindlee Mountain on Friday night.
