McLaughlin to Announce Campaign to Retake Alabama House District 27

Former State Representative Jeff McLaughlin, D-Guntersville, will announce that he is seeking election again to the Alabama House of Representative in District 27. McLaughlin represented district 27 from 2001-2010, but was defeated by Republican Wes Long in 2010. The district includes most of Marshall County and portions of Blount and DeKalb Counties.

“After the past three years, I decided to run for the state legislature again because it’s hard for me to sit by and watch while some bad things have happened, and good things which ought to be happening just haven’t been,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin cited issues such as education, extreme partisan politics, improving our infrastructure and protecting TVA resources, and the need to bring honesty and integrity back to elected office.

“I’ve been to Montgomery and know the games that are played down there and I know how to stay out of those games and get things done to help improve life in this district and in this state,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin is a graduate of Guntersville High School, Birmingham-Southern, and Harvard Law School. He owns a law practice in Guntersville, and is a former high school history, government and biology teacher. He and his wife, Stacy have three children: Frank, William and Mary Crawford.
