Traffic stop results in arrests

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. —According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office: On March 3rd DeKalb County Deputies and State Troopers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of County Road 169 and County Road 155 in Higdon. While deputies were speaking to the driver of the vehicle they noticed the driver Keith Owen Horton, 47 of Flat Rock to be nervous and did not have a valid driver’s license. A search was conducted and as a result pills, a syringe with meth, and a 45 cal. gun was found. Horton was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of prescription drugs and carrying concealed weapon.

On March 4th DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 75 and Highway 40 in Henagar. While Deputies were talking to the driver, Twaski Leshon Brown, 38 of Toney, AL and passenger Sterling Xavier Beasley, 23 of Madison, AL they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, with Beasley admitting to using marijuana a search of the vehicle was conducted and as a result a pill, and a gun was found. Both Brown and Beasley were arrested. Brown was charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs and Beasley was charged with carrying concealed weapon.
