BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — On Saturday night, the Southern Torch marketing team will travel to Birmingham's prestigious "The Club" as guests of the Alabama Broadcasters Association (ABA). This will be the first awards ceremony attended by Southern Torch since the purchase of 101-7 The Torch and 98-3 Wild Country last April.

Media Sales Manager Jenna Sue Payne prepared four entries in three separate categories in an industrious effort to seize an award for Southern Torch. The entries included: Best Commercial for C.W.’s Pitstop “Fishing Lure Earrings” written by Jenna Sue Payne produced by Joe Sims;  F.C. Weiss “Making Memories” written by Jenna Sue Payne and Joe Sims, produced by Joe Sims; Best Podcast for “Hometown Heroes, A Salute to Veterans” created and hosted by Beverley Annette Little, produced by Joe Sims; Best Radio Station Promotion for “Mark Ingram Helmet Giveaway”; and Best Client Promotion for Bruce's Foodland “Weiner an Hour”, written by Jenna Sue Payne produced by Joe Sims.

Payne has been the recipient of several ABA awards in her ranging radio career.

"It's exciting to think our newly former broadcasting company could have the chance for a win considering there were over 600 entries at this year's event," said Payne. "It's a wonderful night to see old friends and celebrate talent. I'm most excited [that] our marketing team will be able to attend and share in the excitement of our creative industry!"
