COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — The Collinsville Panthers finished their regular season play, shutting out the Valley Head Tigers, 34-0. This win gives the Panthers their fifth straight shutout of the season.
The Panthers attacked early with a 23-yard touchdown run by Mason McKinney with 9:17 remaining in the opening quarter. The point after attempt by Jason Perez was good, giving the Panthers the 7-0 advantage. Jarrod Barkley came crashing in from 20-yards out, with 7:09 remaining in the first quarter. The kick by Perez was good and the Panthers went up 14-0. With 4:39 remaining in the first, Kaleb Jones made a 30-yard pass connection with Michael Tucker for the score. Perez nailed the point-after attempt, giving the Panthers the 21-0 lead. On a fumble recovery, Barkley sprinted down the field for 37-yards for the score. The kick by Perez was good. The Panthers closed out the first quarter, with a 28-0 lead.
With 9:08 remaining in the second quarter, Jones made the 30-yard connection with McKinney for the score, giving the Panthers the 34-0 advantage going into the half.
The Panthers held onto to 34-0 for the remainder of the game and closed out their regular season play with a 9-1 record. Collinsville held the Tigers to 61 yards for the night.
For Collinsville, Jarrod Barkley finished the night with two rushes for 82 yards and a touchdown plus a 33 yard interception for the score. Mason McKinney had two rushes for 42 yards and a touchdown plus a reception for 30 yards that resulted in a touchdown.
For Valley Head, Christopher Collins had an interception. Waylon Collins led in rushing with 38 yards and a fumble recovery.
Collinsville will host Westbrook Christian in the first round of Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A, Region 6 playoffs, Friday night.
