Lions Cage the Bears

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The Crossville Lions defeated the Plainview Bears 12-7 for the first time since 2002, when both teams were Class 3A region rivals.

Plainview put the first points on the board with a 9-yard rushing touchdown by Brody McCurdy.  The extra point attempt by David Mejia gave the Plainview Bears the 7-0 advantage.

In the second quarter, Trent Bryant bulldozed his way down the field on a 35-yard quarterback keeper, for the Crossville Lions.  The extra point attempt failed.  Plainview went into the half with the 7-6 advantage.

The third quarter was a defensive battle with neither team scoring.

Cam Adkins sailed down the field for 72-yards scoring for the Crossville Lions with 11:17 remaining in the game.  The Lions held the Bears to win the game, 12-7.  The Crossville Lions were named the Southern Torch Team of the Week for their achievements

Cam Adkins led the Crossville Lions with 94 total yards for the night.  Brody McCurdy led the Plainview Bears with 106 yards for the night.

Plainview will advance to the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) on Friday. The Plainview Bears (3-7) will travel to take on the Fultondale Wildcats (8-1).
