DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — Former state representative and Deputy Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Todd Greeson defeated former Rainsville Councilmember Melissa Ledbetter in the race for DeKalb County Circuit Clerk.

The final results were:

Todd Greeson - 6,134 Votes

Melissa Ledbetter - 5,734 Votes

Greeson came into the campaign late with his announcement coming in early December. He is a 4th generation Republican and has lived in DeKalb County his entire life. He was the founder of the DeKalb County Young Republicans in 1996. At age 27, he became the first Republican from DeKalb County to be elected to the Alabama House of Representatives from District 24. He was then re-elected three times.

“I want to thank Melissa for her hard fought campaign,” said Greeson. “There was no mudslinging. We just ran our race and tried to promote ourselves and let the voters decide. That should be commended in today’s political world.”

Greeson is married to his wife Dana and the couple have two sons: Garrett and Daniel. They celebrated nineteen years of marriage in May.

“The best campaigner in DeKalb County is my wife,” he said. “She’s better at it than I am.”

The Circuit Clerk’s office is currently occupied by Democrat Pam Simpson, who will face Greeson in the general election this November.
