Fort Payne girls' track team breaks 33-year record

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — On Saturday, Fort Payne hosted the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Sectional meet.

The 4x4 team consisting of Maddie Jackson, Madi Wallace, Maggie Groat, and Ruthie Jones, broke the Fort Payne High School (FPHS) record of 4.04, that was set 33 years ago with a time of 4.02. 

Maddie Jackson also received the 800-meter championship and was a member of the champion 4x8 team. Madi Jackson finished second in the mile.

The Fort Payne girls track team received the sectional championship for the seventh year in a row. 

All the qualifiers will take on state, which will be held later this week.
