RAINSVILLE, Ala. — (Full Video on our Facebook) The DeKalb County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on March 30, 2020, at 12:00 p.m.

DeKalb County Superintendent of Education, Dr. Jason Barnett brought everyone up to speed on the current situation that schools fall under due to the COVID-19 virus.

“Since the Proclamation by Governor Kay Ivey, extending our time that we are out, we have to look at doing things differently,” stated Barnett. “Going forward, we are going to do an alternative school for the rest of the year, how this is going to look exactly is hard to say.’

“We will have to look at each grade level to see what standards have been met and what has not.  We need to maintain a level of consistency in each of our schools and work online in a digital or print platform.’

In other business, the Board recognized Cloey Morgan from Sylvania High School as an early graduate.

A bid for copy paper for $23.49 per case by Bye-Mo’r, Inc. was accepted.
