FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The Fort Payne Wildcats were all set to open their season against the Athens High School Golden Eagles on August 21.

Coach Elmore received the news today that Athens will be forfeiting the first game due to COVID-19 concerns. 

The Wildcats will start their football season 1-0 unless they find a replacement by August 21, on August 28 against Gadsden City High School.
