Henagar woman charged for using meth while pregnant

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office: The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a report about Jessica Marie Coker, 24 of Henagar, had tested positive on multiple occasions during her pregnancy.

On August 23rd Coker delivered and during the investigation it was found that she had used methamphetamine during her pregnancy. Coker was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child. The child is expected to be make a full recovery.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said of the arrest, “I want to thank our investigators for doing a great job working with DHR and the hospital staff on this investigation. We are also thankful that the baby will make a full recovery. DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a zero tolerance for mothers who use illegal substances while pregnant.”
