RAINSVILLE, Ala. — (Full Video at the Bottom) In Monday’s meeting of the Rainsville City Council, the council officially adopted the Veteran’s Memorial and appointed a board to oversee the upkeep of the memorial. Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt also provided an update on the ADEM ordered cleanup of the unauthorized dump, and a public hearing was held regarding the vacating of alleyways.
Breakdown of ADEM Cleanup costs:
- Hartline Construction: $14,950.00
- Ladd Engineering: $2511.33 (Consulting)
- Landfill (accepting dirt removed): $20,750.00 (830 tons at $25.00 per ton)
- ADEM Fine: $4000.00
- Total: $42,211.33
Other items addressed at the meeting:
- Approved the hiring of Sam Phillips for the Paragon/Ranch Road Project, pending ADECA Approval
- Approved the hiring of Kim Erwin to serve as grant writer for the Paragon/Ranch Road Project
- Closed out a dormant bank account with First Fidelity Bank
- Closed out a dormant bank account with First Southern State Bank
- Approved an estimate by Unique Cabinets for shelves in the file room/drive through for $2950.00.
- Accepted Jeremy Pinegar’s resignation from the Rainsville Police Department.
- Approved Rainbow, Brown’s Chapel, and Clements Road repair for $3500.00
- Approved Concrete Drainage Structures for $17,580.00
- Approved a new Caution light for the Love Road/Highway 35 Intersection to try and help reduce the amount of accidents at the intersection.
- Appointed Kayron Guffey, Ashley Rosson, and Tommy Williams to a board to oversee upkeep of the Rainsville Veteran's Memorial
- Announced a $2500.00 Donation from BlueScope to Fire Department.
- Approved the application for a FireHouse Subs Grant for a UTV to help in the event of brush fires.
