Two arrested on warrants in Grove Oak after tips

GROVE OAK, Ala. — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received multiple anonymous phone calls about possible illegal activity going on at a residence on County Road 19 in Grove Oak.

On Sunday, December 11, Sheriff's deputies and investigators went to the residence to check on the illegal activity. When they arrived at the residence, they found Michael Jason Walter, 30 of Grove Oak and Timothy Ray Smith, 29 of Fyffe, both having warrants outstanding.

Deputies and Investigators also found Walter in possession of a firearm and three other firearms were recovered from the residence that could possibly be stolen. As a result, Walter was arrested on a warrant for Probation Violation and was also charged with Felon Forbidden to Possess Firearm.

Smith was also arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear. An investigation is still ongoing on the recovery of the firearms.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris states, “as deputies and investigators continue to work day and night to make cases such as these, we thank citizens for their phone calls and tips that help make these arrest possible.”
