DeKalb, Jackson Co. Schools to delay two hours tomorrow, Cherokee Co. closed

By Staff Reports

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — DeKalb County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay, tomorrow, January 18, 2018. At this time, Cornerstone Christian Academy and Fort Payne City Schools will be on a normal operating schedule.

It was announced a short while ago that Cherokee County schools will be closed tomorrow. Jackson County will be on a two hour delay as well.

Jackson County Schools will also operate on a delay:

Superintendent Dr. Jason Barnett said in the statement: “Like most of you, I am ready to get back to a regular school and work schedule. I am receiving word that roads are in good and safe traveling condition. However, in conversation with our transportation department, there are some concerns that the extreme cold will impact bus routes. This two-hour delay should ensure our buses are able to run routes on time and that students are not on the side of the road waiting for buses. Thank you and I appreciate your understanding during this time of extreme weather.”
