Tidwell charged with rec. stolen property; several arrested on drug charges

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office An update on the October 22nd traffic stop of Larry Lebron Tidwell, 35 of Henagar. After a thorough investigation the other items that were found in Tidwell’s vehicle were found to be stolen from a residence in DeKalb County. Due to this investigation Tidwell has been charged with Felony Receiving Stolen Property 3rd.  

On October 26th DeKalb County Drug Task Force, Deputies and Geraldine Police went to a residences on County Road 50 in the Grove Oak community, to check a drug complaint. When Agents, Deputies and Officers arrived they conducted a search of the residence and found methamphetamine, marijuana, and several guns.

Two juveniles were also present at the residence, at which time DHR was called to the residence. DHR relocated the children with family members. Jimmy Armstrong, 38 of Grove Oak was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and certain person prohibited to possess firearms (felon in possession) Shawna Gilbert Armstrong, 35 of Grove Oak was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

On the same date, different incident, Deputies observed a vehicle without a tag, when Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. After a short chase on County Road 169 in Higdon the vehicle came to a stop. When Deputies made contact with the driver Wesley Duane Smith, 32 of Flat Rock the Deputies saw marijuana inside the vehicle.

At that time Ider Police and DeKalb County Drug Task force came to assist. Smith was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, unlawful possession of controlled substance, attempting to elude a police officer and resisting arrest.  

Chief Deputy Edmondson says “I am very proud of the Deputies, Drug task Force, and officers who assist us with the war on drugs here in DeKalb County. We have a zero tolerance drug policy and we will continue this effort in riding drug from this County.”
