On 09-30-2021, Jonathan Todd O’Shields (32) of Valley Head was arrested on the Charge of Electronic Solicitation of a Child. O’Shields was released on 10/01/2021 from the Dekalb County Jail on a $30,000 bond. Detectives with the Rainsville Police Department Investigations Division were working on a case involving the Electronic Solicitation of a Child. During that investigation, the suspect was found to be from out of the country. During that initial investigation, Detectives received complaints from a concerned parent that O’Shields was trying to solicit a young female online. The investigation into O’Shields began on Friday, September 24th, with the subsequent arrest happening on 09/30/2021 at his home in Valley Head. The subject from out of the country goes by the name Mario Ice-Higher. His picture is also in this press release. Chief Michael Edmondson stated, “Parents please be diligent in being involved with your children’s social media and online accounts. Predators are out there, even locally, and you have to do your part to protect children from this type of online abuse.” Chief Edmondson also asked for parents to please check children’s accounts for Mario-Ice Higher, his social media picture is attached to this press release. Rainsville Police Department would also like to thank the 9th Judicial Major Crimes Taskforce, as well as the Fort Payne Police Department, for their help in this investigation.
