FPPD: Waffle House Incident in Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum: At 3am on this date, officers were dispatched to the Waffle House about a man with a knife.  Waffle House management said that a black male was inside the business acting erratically and had jumped the counter and grabbed a butcher knife from the grill area.  

Officer Josh Jones and Lt. David Smith entered the restaurant and made verbal contact with male subject identified as Oscar Lee Jones, Jr, age 36 of Fort Payne. Jones was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Mr. Jones was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamine. No one inside the restaurant was injured.
